{"id":175,"date":"2008-05-25T17:57:00","date_gmt":"2008-05-25T21:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/livinglovingbreathingboys.com\/?p=175"},"modified":"2008-05-25T17:57:00","modified_gmt":"2008-05-25T21:57:00","slug":"lessons-in-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/livinglovingbreathingboys.com\/?p=175","title":{"rendered":"Lessons in Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday. <br \/>Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older.<\/p>\n<p>And, there on television, she said it was &#8220;exciting.&#8221; Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every day&#8230;like her breasts.  They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist, first.<\/p>\n<p>The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words!<\/p>\n<p>Maya Angelou said this:<br \/>I&#8217;ve learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he\/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you&#8217;ll miss them when they&#8217;re gone from your life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve learned that making a &#8220;living&#8221; is not the same thing as &#8220;making a life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve learned that you shouldn&#8217;t go through life with a catcher&#8217;s mitt on both hands; you need to be able throw some things back.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve learned that even when I have pains, I don&#8217;t have to be one.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve learned that I still have a lot to learn.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I have read this before, but today as I read it I thought of it as something I want to teach my children.<br \/>I love the last one.  I think of that in terms of my kids.  They will probably forget all the times I lost it (or it will be a blur), they will forget all the THINGS I DO but I am sure that if they are made to FEEL so LOVED and CHERISHED   they won&#8217;t forget that! You can&#8217;t forget that.  Think of the people that have made an impact on you, or your life&#8230;it is likely how they  made you feel.<\/p>\n<p>Of all my children, Josh is THE MOMMA&#8217;S BOY.  He just loves me.  Now I realize that he is 3 and by the time he is 13 he will know doubt hate me.  But he makes me feel so loved.  Despite the annoyance of being smothered, I have to admit that I love it.<br \/>I love how it makes me feel&#8230; so needed, wanted and cherished&#8230; I know that no one can fill that need but me.
