It’s Easter Sunday!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Today is the day we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection!<\/p>\n

Have you been \u00a0thinking of the Easter story? \u00a0I often think of Peter as the disciple I identify the most with. \u00a0I feel so sorry for him. \u00a0I feel like he gets a bad rap… for denying Jesus… three times. \u00a0 Yet… really, if I was there and I am being really honest with myself, I am not sure I would have done much different. \u00a0I feel the love Peter had for Jesus. \u00a0Peter loved Him with such a passion! \u00a0Peter cut off a solider’s ear!!! \u00a0That’s how much he loved Jesus! \u00a0And yet, I think that like any human, Peter didn’t want to be pointed at, \u00a0be considered weird, and so he denied knowing Jesus.<\/p>\n

Have you ever done that? \u00a0Snubbed someone that was different and not accepted by the popular group, if you will? \u00a0I have. \u00a0I hate myself, still for doing this… and this was a long time ago. \u00a0Despite the fact that she was the only person in my immediate everyday world that accepted me, truly for who I was… a loser, unpopular, strange… I hate that when the “cooler” people interacted with me, I pretended to not notice the hurt look, the bewildered pain of walking away from her.<\/p>\n

Mean! \u00a0Cruel! \u00a0Loser! \u00a0How could I have done this? \u00a0Why did acceptance matter so much of others? \u00a0Why was her acceptance of me not enough? \u00a0ARGH! \u00a0I hate that I hurt this person… some one that really got me, loved me and accepted me through all the ugly times.<\/p>\n

As a grown woman, I have tried to find her. \u00a0I haven’t been able to. \u00a0Actually, I really believe that I have her correct number and have left many a message… “Call me back.<\/em>..” \u00a0and yet, I have never got a call back. \u00a0What can I say? \u00a0Sorry? \u00a0The only purpose that would serve would be to make me feel better. \u00a0It won’t take away the hurt. \u00a0It want erase the sting. \u00a0I can never undo the pain I caused.<\/p>\n

I wonder since Jesus knew Peter would do this, did it hurt Jesus any less? \u00a0And poor, dear Peter! \u00a0How his heart must have felt, that sick dropping of his gut, knowing that he had done just as Jesus said he would.<\/p>\n

I can’t wait to meet Peter! \u00a0I bet we are kindred spirits. \u00a0 I love his passion! \u00a0I love that Peter WHACKED off someone’s ear!!! \u00a0His love for Jesus was so strong! \u00a0I love that Jesus understood Peter so well. \u00a0Jesus understood Peter’s passion and his weakness.<\/p>\n

Heaven… is going to be one great bedtime story after another! \u00a0Can \u00a0you imagine?<\/p>\n

I’m so glad that despite Peter, despite the short comings that Jesus knew Peter had, \u00a0he was still chosen as one of the disciples. \u00a0It gives me hope…<\/p>\n

I suppose that is The Easter Story… a gift of hope!<\/p>\n
