It’s FREEZING!!! The outside temp right now is -36 C. \u00a0and the house temp is 66F. \u00a0I’ve got the dryer running, the oven on high and soon will get the fireplace going (out of fire logs so will have to get it going the old fashion way).<\/p>\n

I’m tired of being cold. I can’t wait for summer. \u00a0I have sat down to blog but not sure what I will be writing about.<\/p>\n

I could tell you about Zach and my attempts to bake cookies last night. \u00a0The batter was delicious. \u00a0The cookies didn’t turn out so well. \u00a0The butter was the issue\u2026 it wasn’t melted enough and then we tried to fix that but the end result was the cookies came out crumbly. \u00a0Did I say that we enjoyed the batter though?<\/p>\n

I’m thinking of making up for it by making my favorite drop cookies but the only danger is that I will eat too many!<\/p>\n

\"Haystacks\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Haystacks:<\/p>\n

2 cups sugar<\/p>\n

6 TBS cocoa<\/p>\n

1\/2 cup butter<\/p>\n

1\/2 cup milk<\/p>\n

1\/2 tsp vanilla<\/p>\n

3 cups instant oats<\/p>\n

1 cup of grated coconut<\/p>\n

Combine sugar and cocoa in sauce pan. Add butter and milk and bring to boil. Add vanilla. Remove from heat and add oats and coconut. \u00a0Drop spoonfuls onto waxed paper. \u00a0Chill.<\/p>\n

The chill part is hard for me. \u00a0I always have a burned finger from tasting too soon.<\/p>\n

I am not a great baker. \u00a0Probably because cooking allows room for experimentation and flexibility. \u00a0I need room to improvise.<\/p>\n
