Today I was at the ATV shop checking out some stuff.  The man helping me out was lovely and helpful.<\/span><\/div>\n

As he is checking me out, he asks me how to say our last name.<\/span><\/div>\n
“Is that Indian?” he asked.<\/span><\/div>\n
“Yes,” I told.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
“I was just reading about the plight of the women there.  It is rough.”<\/span><\/div>\n
(I wasn’t sure what exactly he was pinpointing at).<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
“Arranged marriages… that must be rough for the women.” <\/span><\/div>\n
“Is your marriage an arranged one?”<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
I was standing there thinking, is this for real?<\/span><\/div>\n
Sometimes (well, really a lot of the time) I forget what color I am… <\/span><\/div>\n
so his saying this really confused me for a minute.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
“Um, no… I am pretty much born and raised here.” I said.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
“Oh, but your mom had an arranged marriage?” he continues.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
OK… this is such a weird conversation.<\/span><\/div>\n
